How to Get Featured on Spotlight On Startups

Spotlight on Startups publishes reported features about B2B founders and the companies they run. Features are written by our editor, not submitted by the companies covered. There is no cost, and coverage cannot be purchased.

We select the companies we cover. Not every inquiry results in a published feature.

What we look for

We prioritize:

  • An operating business with customers, not a pre-launch concept
  • A founder available to answer questions directly and follow up if needed
  • Specifics we can verify: how the company works, what it solves, what changed
  • Something that is not already published elsewhere

We generally decline requests for coverage of an announcement rather than a company, requests routed entirely through a representative with no founder access, and companies unwilling to have factual claims checked.

Step 1: A short call

Book a call through our Get Featured page. We use it to understand the business and decide whether it fits our coverage. There is no cost, and booking is not a commitment to publish on either side.

Step 2: Written questions

If we move forward, you receive a set of written questions covering the company, how it works, the problem it addresses, and what you have learned building it. They arrive as a Word document so you can answer at your own pace and return the file.

Your answers are source material for the writer. They are not the published article.

Step 3: We report and write the feature

A writer develops the feature from your answers and the interview. Drafting is AI-assisted, and every feature is fact-checked and edited before publication. Verifiable claims are checked: founding date, location, credentials, certifications, and any figures cited. We may come back with follow-up questions or ask for a source on a specific number.
Claims we cannot verify are removed or attributed to you directly.

Step 4: Publication

Features publish under a named byline with a visible date. We do not publish sponsored content or paid placements, and we do not grant subjects approval rights over the finished piece.

If a published feature contains a factual error, email Editor@SpotlightOnStartups.com. We correct confirmed errors and note the correction on the page with its date.

Why founders do this

When a buyer, a partner, or an AI assistant looks into your company, what they find is whatever independent material exists about it. For most B2B companies that is very little, and what does exist is the company’s own marketing.

A reported feature is a third-party account of what your company does, written by someone other than you, with the facts checked. That is a different kind of artifact from a page on your own site, and it does a different job.

We make no promises about traffic, leads, rankings, or citation by any AI system. Our editorial standards and terms set out exactly what we do and do not commit to.
